MD OKs purchase for Fort Kent/ Ardmore Fire Halls

New fire halls in both Fort Kent and Ardmore have taken a large step forward. The MD of Bonnyville approved the purchase of two parcels of land in the communities. The total cost for the land sat around $210,000.

MD Reeve Greg Sawchuk says the location of the land sold by Muni-Corr should be perfect for the projects.

“They make a great place because they’re at the entry to both hamlets, Ardmore and Fort Kent.”

The Fort Kent location will be about half an acre total. The plot of land in Ardmore is a little larger due to the firehall also housing MD equipment like graders. The Existing stations are closing in on 60 years of service.

Sawchuk says some more planning and design will be done before construction starts to move ahead.

“Hopefully before January, all that is done. They’ll go out to be engineered. Shortly there after, they’ll be out for tender.”

Spring of 2019 is the tentative date for construction to begin.
