Two dead after Highway 16 accident

Mounties from Vermilion remain on scene after a weekend car accident took the life of two people. Police say on the early morning of September 15th they were called out to a section of Highway 16 near Innisfree. The RCMP is saying it believes two vehicles crashed and were then hit by an eastbound semi.

The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. their names are not being released as of yet. The driver of the semi was not hurt in the accident.

Traffic was re-routed passed the scene for hours on Saturday. It has since been opened back up. Police continue to investigate a cause.
