Ashmont School opens after delay

Students at Ashmont School are getting the first look at their new building. The updated digs come as Alberta builds or modernizes 37 schools across the province. The new school will handle kindergarten to grade 12 students and can handle up to 900 children at a time.

It didn’t come without some hiccups, however. The school was originally due to open on September 4th. Construction delays pushed that date to September 6th. That date was again pushed to today after the finishing touches on playground equipment caused another delay.

Around 700,000 students are expected to be enrolled in school in the province this year. Ashmont school is a part of the St. Paul Education Regional Divison.
