Crash near Waskatenau kills one

Mounties are saying a crash involving a semi truck has killed one man near Waskatenau. Police say on the morning of September 7th they were called out to the scene.

RCMP Media Relations Officer Corporal Ronald Bumbry says the accident involved a car and a semi-truck.

“Our investigation indicated that the car was travelling westbound on Highway 656 when a collision occurred with an eastbound semi-tractor.”

The lone occupant of the car, a 24-year-old man from Westlock, was declared dead at the scene. Mounties say they won’t be releasing the victim’s name. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Bumbry says mounties are now looking into every possible cause of the accident.

“We continue to investigate this collision. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased during this difficult time.”

Mounties say the RCMP Collision Analyst team is currently on scene.
