MD announces new Chief Administrative Officer

The Municipal District of Bonnyville has a new Chief Administrative Officer. Luc Mercier was announced as the new CAO after a search lasting 48 applications and around four months. Mercier is coming off of serving 12 years as the CAO for Woodlands County. MD Reeve Greg Sawchuk says Mercier has the experience council was looking for.

” Mr. Mercier has a vast amount of experience, with 24 years working in municipalities
across Alberta, 12 of those as a CAO. His extensive skills have been recognized by the Alberta
government as he was a member of the provincial committee making changes to industrial
assessment. Luc is well respected in the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) association as well.”

Mercier replaces Chris Cambridge, who resigned in May. Roy Doonanco had been serving as an interim in the job for the last four months. Merciers’ first official day as CAO will come on October 9th.
