Lac La Biche county releases crime map

A map that shows certain crimes committed in Lac La Biche county is now available. The online map is available on the county website. Iw was the brainchild of the county and the RCMP mapping unit.

The map also features a running tally of crimes reported in the county. The crimes reported include criminal mischief, theft over or under $5000 and theft of a motor vehicle among others.

The RCMP says the crimes plotted on the map are not exact but instead are mapped out to protect privacy. A disclaimer reads:

“This map is created for the public to view information on missing persons, stolen vehicle and high crime areas. The points on the map are not placed at the exact location of the crime; they are placed at nearby intersections or regions.”

Police say to always call your local RCMP detachment to report a crime. Reports can also be made at the Crime Stoppers website.
