Glendon part of documentary focus

The big pyrogy could be the star of a new documentary. The village of Glendon is tapped to be part of a new film called “Giants of the Prairies”. The film is the brainchild of Director/Producer Simon Morgan and will focus on the village as well as the village of Donald and the Town of Hanna.

The short documentary will show how the statue of the Ukrainian staple became a part of tourism and jobs in the community. Morgan says the village really caught his attention when he was planning out the film.

“Glendon definitely stood out because of the story of the pyrogy. That was definitely one of the stories that resonated with us when we looked into it and read articles.”

The project is being submitted for funding with Telus Storyhive 2018. Morgan expects to hear if he has the funding in place by September 7th. Should it all work out, camera crews might be seen around Glendon by the end of the summer season.

“We want to come out and get some shots of the area in late summer and early fall. We want to tell the story and interview people.”
