The city of Cold Lake says residents will have a few options this winter when it comes to ice time. The city has announced that the new arena at the energy centre will be making ice this week. A grand opening of the new ice surface is expected to be announced in the coming days as well.
Mayor Craig Copeland says he thinks the new rink may exceed expectations.
“We’re planning a community open house for the public to come out and see how things look in there. I think the community is going to be very impressed with the expansion and the new amenities. There’s a lot of much-needed space being provided and the new rink will get a lot of use.”
The Imperial Oil Place arena recently opened. Schedules for ice time are available online. The north arena will stay open on a limited basis this winter season as well. The vintage arena requires rented ice-making equipment as the original set up is too old to be counted on.
More information about public ice times can be found at the Cold Lake website.
