RCMP eastern crime unit arrests two in the Lakeland

RCMP and their Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit are saying they are seeing results, including a pair of arrests in the Lakeland. On July 26th members from the unit spotted a young man in the Elizabeth Metis Settlement who was wanted on prior charges.

The youth tried to flee but was tracked down with help from a Cold Lake RCMP police dog. He now faces charges that include assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a youth order. He’ll be in Cold Lake court September 12th.

Mounties say the next day the specialized team spotted a man driving around St. Paul and pulled him over. Police say the man was found to have had his driver’s license suspended and was also drunk. The 43-year-old from Goodfish Lake now faces charges including a DUI and driving while disqualified. He’ll be in St. Paul court September 6th.

The EADRCRU says they’ll be continuing to work with local detachments and tracking down repeat offenders.
