The City of Cold Lake says a major construction project should be wrapped up by fall. Work began today on the storm trunk extension that runs under Highway 28 and 55th Avenue in the city. a 1.2-metre pipe will be put in the ground to help with stormwater drainage in the Meadows and Brady Heights areas.
The city is advising motorists to slow down and follow all signage and closures during the construction.
“Construction crews on our roadways are a common sight and we know that the delays that construction can cause are an inconvenience,” Mayor Craig Copeland said. “But we also know that significant progress is being made – progress that will allow our city to grow, extend the life of our infrastructure, and provide better service to our residents. Thanks to our staff and contractors for their work, and thanks to the public for their patience and understanding.”
The project was originally slated to begin in 20169 but the original contractor defaulted on the job. The city says all should be back to normal by fall of 2018.
