Cold Lake Mounties arrest man after big rig swipe

Mounties in Cold Lake are saying a man now faces charges after a stolen semi truck ended up in a Cold Lake driveway. On July 15th, mounties on patrol found the semi without a trailer parked. After investigating, mounties found that the truck had been reported stolen.

Constable Thibeault says a little research showed the truck was a long way from its southern-Alberta home.

“So basically what happened is he stole a semi-truck. It was stolen out of Calgary. It was located and recovered in Cold Lake.”

A 36-year-old man now faces charges a few charges including ones from a passed sentencing.

“He’s been charged with possession of property obtained in a crime over $5000 and failure to comply with his probation order.”

Thibeault says she expects the matter before courts in Cold Lake as early as July 25th.
