Cold Lake mounties arrest three on stolen vehicle, drug charges

Cold Lake RCMP are saying three people are in hot water after they struck a deer on highway 897. Police are saying on July 12th at around 8:45, a unit on patrol found a Chevrolet Cruze that had hit a deer.

Cold Lake Staff Sergeant Jeremie Landry says when the officer stopped to help, something wasn’t adding up.

“The RCMP stopped at the collision scene and quickly determined that the vehicle that had struck the deer was stolen.”

Mounties say the car was one stolen from the G-Force compound in Bonnyville last week Landry says additional charges for possession of drugs have been laid against one suspect after a search turned up narcotics on his body.

“During the arrest, numerous baggies of cocaine were found hidden in his underwear.”

Two 23-year-old men from Lac La Biche and a 28-year-old woman from the MD of Bonnyville are facing a variety of charges. Landry says all three were known to RCMP detachments around the Lakeland. All of them will wait in custody until they can go before a judge.
