MD of Bonnyville Reeve Greg Sawchuck isn’t too happy to hear that, despite multiple warnings, people are still trying to use Lessard bridge.
“We are extremely disappointed with this blatant display of disrespect. It’s not only disrespecting the municipality, but also our residents and visitors to the area.”
The MD says that the barriers put up along with detour signs had been moved. They believe someone has been putting a vehicle on the bridge. At the end of June, the MD had released pictures showing how damaged some of the bridge piles were after winter.
The barriers were also tagged with graffiti and the roads damaged by spinning tires.
The MD is reminding everyone that the bridge is not safe to use. Moving the barriers comes with a $310 fine and possible jail time.
Repair of the bridge isn’t expected until the end of 2018.
