Wings name first head coach in history

Now that the logo and name have been decided, the Cold Lake Wings say they have the man that will lead Junior A hockey in Cold Lake. The Wings have announced that former NHL first-round draft pick Johnathan Aitken will be the clubs first Head Coach and General Manager.

An Edmonton native, Aitken has been Head Coach for Minor and Midget hockey teams. He has also acted as a sports agent for Kaizen Sports & Entertainment and the owner of Topshelf Hockey Training and Conditioning.

Aitken was drafted 8th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft and played parts of two seasons with the Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks.

The once-Medicine Hat Tiger has a bit of work ahead of him. Training camp is expected to begin for the WPHA franchise around September. The regular season is due to start by October.
