The United Conservative Party met last night in its first annual general meeting representing the new riding of Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul. The meeting comes in preparation for the 2019 Alberta General Election that will see the former ridings of Bonnyville- Cold Lake and Lac La Biche-St. Paul-Two Hills combined into a single riding.
The meeting featured the appointment of a new constituency association. Information on the new boundaries was also discussed.
The new riding was announced in 2017 after a recommendation to combine the two existing areas was put forward by the Electoral Boundaries Commision. UCP candidates are currently elected to both, with Scott Cyr representing Bonnyville- Cold Lake and Dave Hanson in Lac La Biche- St.Paul – Two Hills.
Cyr announced he wouldn’t be seeking re-election in 2019 back in April Cyr recently took to Facebook showing support for Hanson taking over the new riding.
