Cold Lake Fill the Boat set to go this weekend

An event that helps stock shelves at the Cold Lake Food Bank is ready to go again in 2018. The “Fill the Boat” campaign sees officers and officials with Cold Lake Municipal Enforcement tow their RCMP police boat to the Sobey’s in cold Lake and help get donations of food into it.

Peace Officer Crevier is excited to see how many donations they’ll get this year.

“It’s running from 12 until 4 pm. We’re accepting all non-perishable food donations to try and fill the boat. It’s all going towards the Cold Lake Food Bank.”

The event is a partnership between the City, RCMP, Peace Officers and fish and game. Peace Officer Crevier says it runs in partnership with a food bank event that happens when the weather turns cold.

“It’s our third year going that we fill the boat. We do this one in the summer and then we do the ‘Pack the Police Cruiser’ in the winter time, closer to Christmas.”

The Cold Lake Food Bank is located in the community baptist church and is open for use Wednesdays and Fridays. More information on it can be found at their website.

Fill the Boat 2018 runs Sunday, June 25th from 12 to 4 at the Sobey’s in Cold Lake.
