Cold Lake gives heads up about weed spraying

The city of Cold Lake is giving plenty of notice when it comes to taking down a weed on public property. The city announced today that spraying of tansy will take place during the first few weeks in July. The weed is extremely invasive and is prohibited under the Alberta Weed Act.

Cold Lake will be spraying a few areas it has shown up in, including the Tri-City area just east of the mall. The city says it will use Clearview Herbicide, which if a person was to touch before it has time to settle, could cause red, itchy eyes and itchy skin. Residents are being advised to stay off the areas for about 24 hours and let the herbicide take.

Crews are scheduled to be spraying July 3rd and 6th. Signs will be posted once the spray is done.
