Iron River School has a new leader

Iron River school will see a new leader behind the principal’s desk next school year. Karen Draycott was announced as the new principal of the kindergarten to grade nine school.

“Karen is focused on building strong relationships with students and ensuring they have the support they need to be successful,” said Superintendent Rick Cusson. “She has a passion for small schools and fostering connections between the school and the community.”

Karen has lots of experience in the Lakeland, teaching at Northern Lights Outreach School and Ardmore School. While she works, she is also currently pursuing a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership through Memorial University.

“I am very excited to return to my roots and challenge myself to use the skills I have developed
throughout my years in the Outreach program,” said Draycott. “I am looking forward to building
relationships with the students, the community and the partners that make Iron River a great
school.”
