Lac La Biche County sees step-up in enforcement officers

If you’re noticing more peace officers around Lac La Biche County, well you’re not alone. The county announced plans a few weeks back to have more officers seen and patrolling as well as a few other ideas to help fight a rising crime rate. Residents and visitors alike will see some new changes from new surveillance cameras in downtown Lac La Biche to officers helping out with business owners in making sure they’re doing there best to deter crime.

Enforcement Services saw about 1000 calls in 2017. As the trend of more calls continues, the county hopes to recruit more officers, which may take some time. Officers are hoping that the public will still play its part it helping fight crime. Complaints can still be phoned in at the Enforcement Services 24 hour helpline, 780-623-6767. As with all emergencies, contact local RCMP.
