Saddle Lake man completes journey to Humboldt.

A man with roots in the Lakeland has completed his walk to a hurting community. Rance Cardinal, who grew up in Saddle Lake before moving to Sioux Lookout, Ontario, began his journey over a month ago. Cardinal walked the almost 1,200 km distance between the his home and Humboldt, raising awareness, support and spirits along the way.

Cardinal arrived in Humboldt on Sunday to hundreds of residents cheering him on, hugging him and taking pictures with the Facebook famous walker. He had planned the walk after being shown on the jumbotron at a Winnipeg Jets game wearing a sign that read ” Humboldt Strong”. Cardinal wore the sign almost every day during his journey.

Rance plans to stay in the community for a few days, speaking to schools and youth groups and of course playing a little hockey. After that, it’s a trip back to Sioux Lookout, Ontario, this time Rance says, by car.
