RCMP in Bonnyville are saying an investigation has lead to charges being laid and some stolen property returned. Police say on May 14th a call about a breaking and entering came in from a home in rural Bonnyville. Some hand tools as well as a number of firearms were stolen.

Bonnyville RCMP Staff Sergeant Sarah Parke says the homeowner happened to have surveillance cameras rolling and that made a big difference in the investigation.

“The use of video surveillance by a home owner assisted with this investigation. The use of devices such as trail and door bell camera’s or other surveillance equipment can help catch a criminal in the act”

On May 18th, RCMP executed a search warrant on an apartment building in town and were able to arrest two men. A third man police say was connected to the crime was arrested on May 22nd at his home. Police are also saying that the hand tools and a number of the guns stolen were found during the investigation.

Three men from the Bonnyville area were taken into custody and are now facing charges including breaking and entering and intent to commit theft. Two men will face judges on June 5th in Bonnyville while the third is expected in St. Albert Provincial Court on May 28th.
