Bonnyville Museum ready for opening weekend

The long weekend means it’s time to open the doors on a little piece of history. The Bonnyville Museum will open for the 2018 season on May 22nd. The three acre museum on 54th Avenue gives residents from near and far a chance to see the community as it once was.

Chantil Costard is Museum Technician and Coordinator. She welcomes anyone new or re-discovering the museum. A piece they’re working on right now has a connection to the tragedy Canada experienced in April.

“Right now in our showroom downstairs in the main building, we’re working on doing a piece for the history of hockey in Bonnyville. (That’s) in light of the Humboldt Broncos.”

Many anxiously await the events planned at the museum. Costard says 2018 will not disappoint, including Canada’s birthday.

“As usual, there’s the big Canada Day celebration on July 1st. On June 8th, we’ll have seniors day in honor of Seniors Week. The first 30 seniors to come in will get a free picture taken.”

Costard says museum is still an affordable day out for the whole family. Admission and more information can be found at the Museums website.  She highly recommends following the Facebook page as well.
