Town of Bonnyville will host Cannabis open house on Wednesday

The Town of Bonnyville is hoping to get many of its residents out Wednesday for an open discussion about Marijuana legalization. An open house at the Town Administration Building on Wednesday afternoon will see a variety of topics talked about. Bylaws including land use and business licence rules are being updated to account for the new industry.

The Town has seen several discussions on pot legalization in town council this spring. Council is hoping that feedback from the public will help with their decision to change bylaws. The Town does not expect to pass any new laws until the federal legalization of the drug, due later in the summer.

No presentations are expected to be done at the open house. The meeting is expected to be a more formal setting for the public to give opinion and concerns. For those unable to attend, a meeting with Town staff can be arranged by calling the Director of Planning and Development at 780-826-3496. The meeting will take place in council chambers from 3 until 7 pm.
