AHS Wellness workshops planned for Lakeland

Workshops dealing with mental health are being planned in the Lakeland. Alberta Health Services announced the meetings last Friday. Topics like coping with mental wellness, anxiety and more will be discussed. AHS is hoping the workshops will benefit those suffering with mental wellness as well as families and support groups.

Area Manager for Addictions and Mental Health Services Reggie Jackson says the ability to talk openly about mental health is a great way to help heal.

“It’s an opportunity to learn a little bit about mental health components and developing some skills to grow and develop. It’s a way just to learn about common things that we suffer from from time to time.”

The first meeting goes on May 10th from 2 pm to 4 pm with three others being planned later. Jackson says the first meeting will tackle the topic of depression in todays world.

“It’s on depression to start with. It’s really understanding the basics of depression and coping strategies and mechanisms that might be really helpful to work through.”

The workshops will take place at the boardroom in the Bonnyville addictions office, located on the second floor of the Bonnyville Provincial Building. AHS is asking those interested in attending to register by calling 780-826-2404 or 780-826-8054.
