A new program in Lac La Biche County is hoping to keep house and structure loss at a minimum during wildfire season. The County is offering residents sprinkler kits that when installed will help keep a building and the surrounding ground wet during a fire. Emergency Services in the County are hoping the water will make the structures much harder to catch on fire and give fire crews more time to battle blazes.
The new sprinkler program is part of the Countys “FireSmart Initiatives”. The plans also see residents learn more through open houses and free inspections of property to determine fire risk. The sprinkler kits cost $105 and there is no limit on how may you can get.
