St.Paul Fire Department covering Saddle Lake after fire

St.Paul Fire Department has gotten a little busier after a fire last Friday. The Fire department was called out to help with a grass fire near Saddle Lake. When they arrived, they found that the Saddle Lake firetruck had been burned in the fire as well. St. Paul Fire Chief Trevor Kotowich says he’s unsure how the truck was lost to the fire.

“We responded out to Saddle Lake on Friday night to assist them in a wildfire but by the time we had arrived their firetruck was already consumed so we just sprayed some hot spots.”

Saddle Lake is now in an agreement with the County of Saint Paul which will see the town help out it’s neighbor. Kotowich says the partnership will mean public safety is priority.

“The County of Saint Paul and Saddle Lake First Nations have now entered into a temporary emergency services fire protection agreement so while they’re down a firetruck we’re gonna assist them whatever way we can.”
