4 Wing MFRC gets support for childcare

4 Wing Cold Lake will be home to $25 a day childcare. The Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) has been selected by the province to become a featured Early Learning and Childcare Centre. The centres allow parents to drop their children off for daycare at a reduced rate.

4 Wing MFRC Executive Director Floyd Perras knows this decision will help parents around the community save money when it comes to childcare.

“It’s good for the 4 Wing community and all of Cold Lake. There’s many parents that are burdened with high cost of child care and now that can be much different.”

The program expansion is part of an agreement with the Government of Canada, which will see the federal government invest $136 million over three years to expand the Alberta program. Perras knows the program will be in high demand for the area. He says parents should start by meeting with the MFRC.

“I think people should give us a call or come right down and meet the staff. If they have any desire to access the program they should connect and see if they meet the criteria.”

Perras adds that the program is open to anyone in the area, not just military members. 4 Wing MFRC Child Care Services is located at 674 Kingsway Road at CFB Cold Lake. More information on the program itself can be found by clicking here.
