Plans for Cold Lake Elementary Continue to Move Forward

Students at the current Cold Lake Elementary School are getting excited as the fencing to begin construction on the new school has gone up and crews have begun work.

Communications Officer with the Northern Lights School Division, Nicole Garner, says the new school will be feature classrooms as bright as their students, stating that one of the features she really like is the library. “It has a lot of windows and a lot of natural light, in fact the whole school has a lot of natural light.” Garner notes that the current Cold Lake Elementary is known for being warm and welcoming. The feeling will be “further enhanced by the fantastic design and the entrance way,  when you enter the school, it’s a nice foray with high ceilings and lots of light.” Garner notes this will create a “welcoming atmosphere” in the new school.

The new Cold Lake Elementary School is Leeds Certified, meaning that it’s a very green and eco-friendly building with a lot of natural light.  Northern Lights School Division is expecting the school to be open for Fall of 2016.
