Cold Lake RCMP nab shoplifter

Cold Lake mounties are saying they caught a shoplifter in the act. Police say a man entered the Canadian Tire in Cold Lake on April 13th at around 7:30 pm and try to steal some tools and hardware. Police were called and were able to catch the man before he left.

“He had attempted to steal some tools and other miscellaneous items.” says Staff Sergeant Jeremie Landry of the Cold Lake RCMP. “We have charges pending against a 29 year old male from Island Lake.”

Police are saying when the man was questioned and searched they found he had been carrying a weapon.

“He was arrested at the scene and provided a false name to police and was also in possession of bear spray.”

RCMP are saying the man is facing charges including theft under $5000 and possession of a prohibited weapon among others. He’ll be in Cold Lake Provincial Court on April 25th.
