Fatal Plane Crash near Lloyminster.

Kitscoty and Lloydminster RCMP continue to investigate into a fatal plane crash.

Mounties responded to a complaint of a plane which had crashed and struck a residence approximately 2kms east of the Lloydminster Airport around 1:00 pm Saturday. On arrival, emergency crews observed the wreckage of a small single engine aircraft up against the side of a residence.

A single occupant of the aircraft was found deceased at the scene. Mounties say the sole occupant of the residence at the time of the accident was uninjured and the residence suffered minor damage as a result of the impact.

Transport Canada has been contacted and will be sending investigators to the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the accident. Weather conditions in the area were poor at the time of the crash and may have played a role in accident.

The deceased pilot has been transported to Edmonton for autopsy. Those results will not be known for a number of weeks. The deceased’s family have been notified and no identifications will be made at this time.
