Cold Lake pothole program helping city tackle problem

Pothole repair in the city of Cold Lake is only a click away. The city is applauding it’s “Report a Pothole” program. Motorists can report a pothole they’ve found on city streets on the cities website, and crews will be dispatched to fill it in.

George Urlacher is Transportation Services Manager with the city. He says the program makes it way easier for both staff and residents to get the problem areas fixed.

“Instead of us sending staff out or a supervisor out looking for potholes, we set up a direct line for residents to go on the cities webpage. It’s easy to follow through.”

The program was launched in 2013 to a huge use by the public. He says a small amount of reports for last spring has him questioning if either the staff was great at getting to the potholes quickly or residents weren’t using the program.

As for how quickly the city will respond to your reported pothole, Urlacher says it all comes down to a few factors.

“Of course, we try to get there in 24 hours. Say if we get 10 minor ones and one real bad one, the bad ones will supersede over the minor ones.”

Urlacher says weather can also play a factor in repair times. To learn more and report a pothole in the city of Cold Lake, click here.
