The MD Will Build a New Fire Hall/Grader Shop in LaCorey

A new Fire Hall is planned by the Municipal District of Bonnyville for the LaCorey area. The budget for The MD was released on April 8th, with the announcement that $2.2 million  will go towards building a new fire hall/grader shop.

Ed Rondeau, Reeve for the MD confirms, “we are building a new fire hall and grader shop combined in the LaCorey area, which is much needed.” The building is expected to be completed within the year.

Rondeau notes that the budget of over $109 million dollars will focus heavily on road improvements and maintenance, however The MD is looking into the cost-benefit of building a new Public Safety Officers building where the current Public Works shops are outside of Bonnyville.

Currently, The Public Safety Officers building is in the Town of Bonnyville, just off 54th (railway) avenue. The building can be tricky to access, both by the public and by the special constables. The MD hopes to build a new structure off Range Road 455, north of Bonnyville.

Rondeau says the idea is in the exploratory stages and “council will continue to discuss at future meetings to determine if this is a project that needs to be done this year or if it can wait.”
