The Cold Lake Penguins Rugby Football Club is excited for jack frost to leave and the pitch to dry off. The club features Men’s, Women’s and Youth teams, with everything from die-hard students of the game to those just learning the ropes. Dave Brown is the president of the club, he says the group has come a long way since they started over 25 years ago.

“A couple years back we expanded to include the adult women. In the last couple of years we’ve really focused our initiatives in expanding the support in the community and making it accessible to our youth.”

Brown says to come out and try the game if you’ve been on the fence about playing.

“It’s very inclusive, everyone is welcome. There’s a position for every experience level, body type etc.”

He says the club is in its pre-season training every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 pm at Assumption High School. He hopes the weather will allow the first outdoor practices outside the Energy Centre at the field.

“The best place to start is our Facebook page, or our website.”
