Accident in Cold Lake leads to DUI charges

Cold Lake mounties are saying an accident on Highway 28 has lead to charges of impaired driving and reckless disregard for the lives of two minors. Cold Lake RCMP Staff Sergeant Jeremie Landry says police responded to a crash on March 30th at around 2:30 in the afternoon.

“Cold Lake RCMP received a 911 call of a collision on highway 28 near the King’s Court Motel. Three vehicles were involved in the collision.”

Police are saying the driver of the last car involved in the pile up was found to have been driving while impaired with two children riding in the back. Landry says after arrest, the 34 year old woman provided breath samples showing she was nearly four times over the legal limit. S/SGT Landry says the children involved are safe.

“In this case Child and Family Services was contacted, the children were apprehended and then placed with family.”

The female driver is facing four charges, including impaired operation of a vehicle and reckless disregard for the safety of the two minors. She’s been released with a promise to appear in court April 25th.
