Cold Lake City Council has decided to write letters of support for the Trans-Mountain and Keystone XL pipeline projects. Council voted in favor of sending letters of support to the project leaders on behalf of the city.
Mayor Craig Copeland says the letters are just a small way of saying that the city supports the oil and gas sector in the province.
“They say ‘Hey, we appreciate you hanging in there, we know the environment for your business has changed tremendously.’ Just some words of encouragement that say the city of Cold Lake fully supports the pipeline industry.”
The Trans-Mountain and Keystone XL pipeline projects have seen protests from groups across the country and into the US.
