Elk Point by-election looking for people who want to make a difference

The Town of Elk Point has announced some more details concerning the by-election to replace Sherry Bower Gagne, who resigned her seat last month. Nomination day has been announced as May 15th, and Mayor Lorne Young says the loss of Bower Gagne leaves some big shoes to fill.

“She was definitely interested in the well-being of the town, looking to see us grow and improve. Definitely someone we’re gonna miss.”

People interested in the position must have lived in Elk Point for at least 6 months immediately before nomination day among some other rules. Mayor Young says what he sees as a requirement for council is someone looking to make Elk Point run at its best.

“You have an interest in this town growing and doing better, being the kind of place that you want to live in. People that run for council are people that want to put some action behind their beliefs.”
