Bonnyville C2 sees around 500 at youth conference

The Bonnyville C2 saw about 500 teens as it played host to the 8th annual Tribal Chiefs Council Family Services East Society Youth Conference last week. The conference is hosted by the Kehewin First Nation, and sees young men and women come from all over Alberta and Saskatchewan. This year saw workshops in Cree language, Health and wellness along with bullying prevention and more.

Guest speakers at this years event included NHL coach Ted Nolan and his son Brandon and powwow dancers Troy & Violet Duncan among others. A trade show and career fair were also on tap. Next March has already been confirmed as the date for next years conference, with Frog Lake playing host.

During the June 24th council meeting, Cold Lake city council approved a request to move $3,500 sponsorship grant for the upcoming RCMP Charity Golf Tournament after the original sponsorship level became unavailable.
