Benefit dance helps Lakeland resident

A tragedy has turned into a story of community and rallying. Justin Graham lost everything in a house fire on February 15th, including his beloved dog. His mother Georgina Graham says he was just back from work when the fire occurred.

“Like he literally had nothing but the clothes on his back. He brought in all his clothes from camp to wash them. He had got in the night before. It’s all he had.”

A benefit dance was held over the weekend at Riverhurst Community Hall to help Justin and his two kids get back on their feet. Graham says it was a good turn out and helps alleviate the pressure of starting over.

“We probably had about 125 people show up. We raised, and this includes a Gofundme that my niece had started, a total $3910 or something similar to that. I just had some people give me some money who couldn’t be there.”

For those looking to help out Justin and his family, donations are still being gratefully accepted.

“The best way would be to get a hold of myself, the Gofundme has been closed, so if anyone wanted to they could call me at 780-826-4642.”
