Cannabis talk continues in Bonnyville Town Council

Bonnyville Town Council had another round of discussions about how the community will set it’s pot permitting laws at town council on Tuesday. The talk has the town deciding between a 100 and 150 metre buffer zone for potential cannabis retailers and schools/health care facilities. Mayor Gene Sobolewski noticed the confusion the discussion has caused, saying “It seems like there has been a major downloading of hard decisions onto municipalities.”

Council decided that one of the buffer zones will have to be picked, if only to gauge public opinion on the matter at a later date. The town has received requests for permitting from at least one interested future shop owner.
