Bonnyville town council writing letter supporting Lakeland MP

Bonnyville Town Council will be writing a letter of support to Lakeland MP Shannon Stubbs as she tables a motion on rural crime in the House of Commons in Ottawa. Council was sent an email from staff at Stubbs’ office asking if they would send an official letter of support for the motion, expected to be presented by Stubbs later this month.

The motion asks the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security to start a study on rural crime to help alleviate what Stubbs previously called “A crisis in rural communities in Alberta, but also is an escalating problem in rural communities right across the country”. Council voted on Tuesday to write the letter in support and possibly add some opinions they have on rural crime.
