Glendon Derby will smash and crash in August

After a shaky start to its planning stages that had some wondering if it had seen its last days, The Glendon Ag Society has confirmed that the derby will be back in August. Stacey Sandmeyer is the President of the Society, and she says that volunteers heard the message loud and clear: We need help.

“I’m happy to say that we had a meeting. We had a lot of response, a lot of interest. People are really passionate about the derby in Glendon, they’re stepping up to the plate. We’re happy to say that we’re gonna go ahead with our 29th Glendon Derby and Mudbogs.”

The derby had originally asked for ideas on how to attract fans and, most importantly in the Ag Society’s eyes, drivers.

“We’re trying to look at how we can attract more drivers. That’s really the clutch of the whole thing, is how can we get more drivers to put on the show. We’re gonna be doing some incentives for early registration. We still have the top prize money. It’s $4000 and really attractive. Registration (for drivers) is at a low $100.”
