The city of Cold Lake is pleased with how construction is coming on a new artificial turf field for the community. Concrete foundations have been poured and with winter putting a halt to structure work, the city has reported that the project is both on time and on course for it’s $11 million budget.
The city has used Bonnyville’s Walsh Field as an example for the project, which will be used for soccer, rugby and football. It’ll use Field Turf, a popular alternative to natural grass, and officials say they want to make sure it’s laid down properly the first time.
With a quick melt of snow, officials are hoping for contractors to begin work quickly, and have the field ready for kick-off by fall of this year.
