May long campers urged to get their reservations in

Springtime campers looking to book a spot in the provincial parks in the Lakeland for the May Long weekend are being urged to act now. The reservation system opened on February 20th and will only be open for a 90 day window.

Jaclyn Denman is the Parks Development Officer for the Northeast region of Alberta, shes says if you are planning a big May Long 2018, to plan ahead so you’re not disappointed.

“On May long weekend, it’s usually pretty busy. It certainly helps if you have a reservation for the campsite. Some are first come, first served or even a mix of both, So you can still get into some great sites around Alberta if you don’t make one.”

Denman says that using your head when it comes to respecting the camp sites and parks should be top of mind when campers pull in for their fun, especially when using ATVs.

“Always be fire smart and fire safe, it’s very important to us in our parks. Also making sure you follow the general rules and regulations for the park you’re staying in, for example checking if it is an ATV access trail or not. Make sure you’re staging from the right area.”

Reservations for camping in provincial parks around the Lakeland can be done in a variety of ways, including calling the contact centre at 1-877-537-2757, or by clicking here.
