Cold Lake unsure about food trucks

You may see food trucks in Cold Lake one day, but the schedule on them is still unsure. The council met during a corporate priorities meeting held last week. Food trucks and other mobile businesses were discussed, and the permitting behind them.

A current draft bylaw has them allowed, but requires them to remain 50 feet from a sit -down or take out restaurant. Council has been discussing if that is acceptable, as the same rules aren’t applied to permitting when permanent restaurants apply.

Council has also discussed the price of future permits, with the $75 business license of places in the city used in comparison. The discussion is set to continue at March 13th’s council meeting.
