Cold Lake goes full throttle in 2018

A popular summertime festival in Cold Lake is returning in 2018, with a little more gas in the tank. Cold Lake city council approved a budget of $80,000 in last Tuesdays council meeting for the Full Throttle Festival, increasing it from the $30,000 it received in 2016.

Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland lays it out for those who have never been. “It’s there to compliment the air show weekend. It’ll kick off the Friday afternoon. We’ll have a lot of kid and youth events, a lot of activities similar to last time, probably expanding on that.”

“The idea is to celebrate the air show, get out and enjoy the sun. listen to some good music. You never know, there might be the occasional plane down main street Cold Lake going by, getting ready for the air show.”

Copeland knows the festival benefits the city as well as 4 Wing.

“It brings in a lot of tourists. Our food and retail and hotel really see a boost. We’re really supporting the 4 Wing members, they do a great job on the air show.”

The festival is scheduled for July 20th. No acts have been announced as of yet. More information about the festival can be found here.
