Bonnyville town council saw a special delegation in attendance on Tuesday. Members of the Bonnyville and District Fine Arts Society were on hand to talk with the mayor and councilors about where their new home will be in the future.
The Lyle Victor Albert Center will be closing due to renovations on Bonnyville Composite High School. The society says they have no set schedule for when it will happen, but they have an idea for where they’d like to preform in the future, the Bonnyville C2.
“We went first with the C2 Centre, because the possibility exists of having a theater with an arts centre. It’s that a larger dream could be realized there.” says Patricia Perry
The delegation presented letters of support for the group’s idea, including one from country music star Brett Kissel, that read in part:
” A new fine arts facility would give yet another reason to put Bonnyville on the map, and give this community a leg-up when touring acts select towns to visit when they come through our country, our cities, and our municipal district.”Â
Council was open to the idea of discussion about a future theater, but stressed that it was not something that would be granted in one or two meetings. As for the future, Perry says they’ll continue on the path of raising funds.
“We’ll continue to raise money. We raise that money with the help of the community. Many business have contributed. We are thankful for the enormous support we have been receiving.”
