Province changes hunting regulations for 2018

The Alberta government has updated its hunting regulations. The use of spears and spear throwing tools are now not allowed; Rifles, shotguns and conventional archery gear will be the methods allowed for the 2018 season.

Cynthia Pawliuk is the President of the Beaver River Fish and Game Association in the Lakeland, she says the group believes in ethics first. “Our stand on any regulation changes, is we support any legal method of hunting, to make sure that you get a clean quick kill on the animal. That’s just what ethical hunters do.”

A new standard on shotgun ammunition is also in place. Hunters are now required to use .24 calibre buckshot or bigger when hunting big game to ensure a clean and effective kill.
