The 2016-2017 Northern Lights School Division education results report is being made available to the public. Garry Kissel is a trustee on the school board, he says the report is based on a survey of a variety of people.
“The government surveys parents, students and teachers. A wide variety of our stakeholders get interviewed. When we’re getting the results we’re getting it’s from a cross section.”
Some of the numbers that have improved since the last report include parents, students and teachers agreeing that the schools are safe and caring environments. The drop-out rate has also gone down, as has the rate of students finishing high school. Kissel also mentions the parents role in education.
“Parent involvement is under very high achievement at 83 percent. We’re very happy with that.”
