MD of Bonnyville reinstating coyote reduction program

The MD of Bonnyville is bringing back its coyote reduction program. It will pay $15 per coyote and $75 per wolf killed starting January 2, 2018.

The program was suspended in September under the belief that coyote numbers were down. However, the Agricultural Service Board recommended reinstating it, saying the population is still strong and many complaints are coming in to the office.

To qualify, carcasses will have to be brought in whole and unskinned to the ASB/Public Works shop north of Bonnyville, after calling ahead to 780-826-3951. The left front foot will be cut off, and the carcass returned to the owner to dispose of properly.

Animals brought in from outside of the MD’s boundaries, or by non-residents won’t be accepted. The program should run until March 31st, but could end earlier if the budget runs out.
