Charges follow drivers on Iron Horse Trail

Charges have been laid against some of the drivers ignoring signs at the Beaver River Trestle. Earlier this year, the MD of Bonnyville installed signs on the Iron Horse Trail telling vehicles not to go any further, after being approached by the Riverland Recreational Trail Society.

Cameras were set up and caught 55 people passing the sign, which warns of a $1,000 fine for any highway vehicles found using the trail. The Iron Horse Trail has existed in its relatively natural state for nearly 100 years, and can be used by people on ATVs.

The trestle reopened last year after a portion was destroyed by arson. The fire caused $5 million in damage.
